PSG superstar Lionel Messi has once again won the GOAT race against rival Cristiano Ronaldo as fans of Al Hilal and Al Nassr pretend jury.
Ronaldo might be the most famous star striker in the Saudi Pro League, but it doesn’t restrict the Arabian fans to voice their opinion on who they think is a better footballer.
Recently GOAL, took a fan Q&A where they asked the match goers ‘Who is your GOAT?’
The fans were divided as a whole but the larger portion of the Saudi fans hailed the 35-year-old Argentine Lionel Messi as the ultimate GOAT.
When asked the question, a young Al Hilal fan replied, “Meeeeessi”
One female Saudi fan answered a straight “Cristiano Ronaldo”
While another female spectator answered the Cristiano vs Messi debate with a passionate “Messi”.
To which the interviewer questioned “Not Cristiano?”
She laughed and said: “No Messi”
A young Al Nassr supporter also jumped in to defend his star by saying: “Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi not good”
A mature football fan then perfectly encapsulated the debate:
“I think it (GOAT debate) keeps on changing during the years because it started being him(Cristino) then Messi, then him now Messi. It goes on and on, it’s really difficult to maintain being at the top. So, it’s a continuous battle.”
Cristiano Ronaldo recently had a silver lining in his performance as he scored the opener against lower-table team Al Raed in their 4-0 win. The Portuguese striker has improved his goal tally to now 12 in this Suadi PL campaign. He is now 6 goals short of the top scorer Odion Ighalo.
While his prime rival Lionel Messi is breaking goal-scoring records in Europe with French club PSG. Messi will look for new opportunities as his contract with the Ligue 1 champions expires this summer.
